Foula, Island West of the Sun

Da Sneck ida Smaalie.
Da Sneck ida Smaalie.
Just back from 6 days on Foula assisting with a whole island count of all the breeding seabirds. Although we managed fairly well, we were beset by fog on the high ground which prevented us counting all the Bonxies. Was my first time on Foula and it's some place, huge cliffs and lung busting steep slopes and the amazing Sneck ida Smaalie. It is like nowhere else in Shetland and is well worth a visit. Will definitely have to go back. Many thanks to Isobel Holbourn for her hospitality while we were there, and to Sheila and Jim Gear for taking us down "Da Sneck".
